Welcome to my class!
My Secondary Resource Room at Clarksville High School is a busy place! At any given hour, there can be 2 - 9 students
in there all working on an individual plan.
My focus in resource is supplementing classroom work; I take what the student knows about a subject and try
to find ways to advance that knowledge in whatever way I can.
I mostly deal with the subjects of reading, writing and math, but what class doesn't involve reading or math?
We work hard on study skills, improving our comprehension, applying math concepts to real life, becoming more fluent readers
and learning how to study and take those tests that tell us what we should have learned!
Transition is another big area we concentrate on and that is simply, what can we do to help students be ready for the
big world once they graduate. Some areas we work with are; career exploration, money management, decision
making, problem solving, daily living skills and workplace readiness.
Students typically come to the resource room for 1 or 2 class periods a day and get credit for one of those periods.
The amount of time I see any student depends on his/her needs.
